A woman says she is concerned for her family’s safety after two people were seen “trying to open” cars on her road after midnight.
Police were called to reports that people were looking at cars parked on and near Crossmead in Watford in the early hours of Wednesday, June 28.
The woman who lives on the road said she was woken when she heard a member of her family scream after seeing a man and a woman trying to open car doors.

She said: “When they heard the scream, they just walked off.”
The woman and her husband watched the CCTV footage back to see that it happened at around 12.44am.
Police confirmed they were called at around 12.50am and said that “no attempts were made to enter the cars, and no crimes have been recorded”.
But the woman said: “They went down the whole road trying to open each car. It was shocking when we watched the footage back.”
Having lived on the road for 30 years, she believes that crime in the area has got worse, especially since the cost-of-living crisis.

“But the fact is they weren’t even scared. When they heard the scream, they just walked off, they know they will not be reprimanded.
“I am concerned for my family’s safety now,” she said.
The incident has led her to believe that the community needs to have a network to highlight such issues.
She said: “I wish I had everyone’s number who lives on the road to contact them and tell them what happened, but I don’t.
“It has made me realise that we need to have better communication and a neighbourhood network is really important.”
On this occasion, the family’s car was parked on the driveway, but there a road works planned on the road and the car should have been parked on a neighbouring road.
She said: “If we had done that then the cars on the road would have been out of our site. It’s a good job we didn’t.”
