The M25 was brought to a standstill this afternoon after five vehicles crashed.
Herts Police were called to the scene of a “damage only” crash on the motorway at around 2.36pm today (June 28).
The clockwise M25 was shut between junctions 23 and 24 with police, traffic officers, a fire engine, and recovery vehicles sent to the scene.

Although the crash was initially reported as "damage only", there was "slight injury", according to police. The East of England Ambulance Service has been contacted for more information.
Just after traffic was first allowed to move again delays reached two-hours, with congestion stretching back to Watford.
As of around 4.45pm there were delays of around half an hour.
People could be seen standing outside of their vehicles on the motorway's traffic cameras at around 3pm.

Many motorists diverted around the M25 which contributed to long delays near Potters Bar and Hatfield.

Meanwhile police shut the A1000/Great North Road due to a fire in woodland at Woodside Lane, Hatfield.
Herts Highways reported “multiple incidents” were causing delays in the area.
