A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after a motorcyclist was left fighting for their life.
Police were called to a crash on the M1 northbound near the entry slip road at junction 8, Hemel Hempstead, on Friday, June 23.
A motorcyclist collided with the rear of a grey Volkswagen Touran MPV at around 5pm.
The driver of the VW, a 33-year-old man, has also been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.
As of 1pm today (June 26), the motorcyclist was still in a critical condition in hospital.
He was taken to Royal London Hospital for treatment.

The crash caused major delays as police closed the M1 north and southbound between junctions 8 and 9.
There were delays of up to 90 minutes and six miles of congestion.
Drivers were urged to avoid the route and National Highways opened a diversion.
Police are asking witnesses or anyone with a dash cam footage to contact them via 101, quoting ISR 738 of 23/6/23.
