A planning application has been submitted to build three flats and two commercial units in a popular village location.
Developers want to knock down the building at 102-104 London Road, Shenley to build a two storey-building that will contain two, one-bed first floor flats and one, two-bed ground floor flat.
Barkers estate agents are already in the site’s current building.
The accommodation would be for the over 55s and the first-floor units can be accessed via a lift.
If approved, the commercial class E units will be at the front on the ground floor.
The planning application said they are “envisaged as a boutique enterprise or small café and the existing office for an estate agent with more limited floorspace”.
Each unit will have a parking space dotted throughout the development that will be accessed via London Road.
- 'Quiet road turned into war zone after crash and attack'
- No arrests after road became 'war zone' and 'drugs seized'
The site is located within the Shenley Conservation area that is mixed with commercial, community and residential buildings.
However, buildings near the property are “C20th infill” and the road backing onto the site is a residential development dating from the 1950s.
The planning application’s reference number is 23/0831/FUL.
