Children were reportedly “pushed” during an alleged racially aggravated incident in a Hertfordshire park.
The incident took place in Gadebridge Park, Hemel Hempstead, yesterday (June 18) between 5pm and 5.10pm.
Officers said it was reported that an altercation occurred between several families in the park, during which a number of people were assaulted, and multiple young children were pushed.
Racially offensive language was also used, according to police.
Detective constable Lauren Jackson who is investigating said: “This was a frightening incident for the victims who have understandably been left shaken by what happened.
“This type of behaviour is absolutely unacceptable and we’re doing all we can to investigate.”
The police have increased patrols in the area for “reassurance”.
Ms Jackson added: “We are hoping to gather information in order to establish the circumstances around the incident and are appealing for witnesses to please come forward.”
The police can be contacted via 101 or on lauren.jackson@herts.police.uk and the crime reference number 41/48802/23 can be quoted.
