The father of a teenage boy has fractured his eye socket, sustained a cut to the side of his face and suffered suspected bruising to his ribs, after he and his son were attacked in Hertfordshire.

The incident took place between 6pm and 7pm on Monday, May 29, when a group of teenagers and children assaulted the pair in Clarence Park, St Albans.

Hertfordshire police have since appealed for witnesses to come forward.

PC Grace Kimber said: "This was a distressing incident, and our enquiries are continuing.

"Any information, even something that may seem relatively minor or insignificant, could be key to progressing our investigation.
