Two fraudsters are targeting ATM machines in Watford with an increasingly common scam, police have warned.
The pair apparently follow a formula in which they wait until the victim has inserted their bank card before the first male engages them in conversation and claims the machine is broken.
Meanwhile the second fraudster will cancel the transaction and remove the victim's bank card, which is later used in fraud.
The Herts Police Cyber and Fraud department issued the warning yesterday (May 31) following a recent rise in incidents in Watford and St Albans.

Hertfordshire Constabulary told the public not to engage with anyone telling them a machine is broken or to generally get distracted from the process of using an ATM.
They were also told to shield their pin and report any concerns, either to shop staff or by calling 999 if crime is in progress.
Anyone wanting to report anything suspicious can call 101.
