Herts Police have confirmed why the M25 was shut for what it described at the time as a “non-protest related incident”.
The motorway between junction 23 (South Mimms) and 24 (Potters Bar) was closed in both directions yesterday (May 31) causing hour and a half delays at around 7.30pm.
This morning officers confirmed they were dealing with reports of concern for someone’s welfare near Potters Bar. The incident was brought to a safe conclusion, a spokesperson said.
It is believed officers specified that it was not a protest to avoid potential speculation.

“Drivers are asked to avoid the area.”
The stretch reopened at around 8pm, with the force tweeting: “Drivers are thanked for their patience whilst we dealt with a non-protest related incident.”
