Pictures show the latest round of works on land previously home to a school.
The former site of Little Furze Primary School in Gosforth Lane, South Oxhey, is to be used for a 75-bed care home.
Judging by pictures taken on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, which mainly show mounds of mud and diggers, it is safe to say the opening is not imminent.
The school was shut in 2004 and Hertfordshire County Council had to introduce 24-hour security to protect the site from trespassers.
In January 2022, the Watford Observer revealed that it cost around £800,000.
Bob Maddox, who lives on the road, said: “I’m happy to finally see the land being put to some good use.

“The amount the council spent on security was a complete waste of money.”
He is also glad that the site’s managers said they are working to protect wildlife.
“I was told they are keeping an eye out if they see any slow worms, badgers or hedgehogs,” Mr Maddox added.
