Watford Borough Council is set to install 1,000 solar panels by the end of the year as part of a community scheme.
Residents were offered the chance to purchase solar panels at a discounted rate, with the 'group buying' scheme allowing for them to be purchased in bulk.
The local authority has already put over 300 panels in place as part of a new initiative launched last year with local company Solar Together.
