A local has claimed a winning £1,000,000 lottery ticket with hours to go after an appeal.
Last week, on April 26, The National Lottery urged Hertsmere entrants to “check their old tickets one final time” as it was revealed that the area’s EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker prize was the only one of 20 winners still unclaimed after a draw on November 4, 2022.
Camelot UK Lotteries Limited, which operates the lottery, then confirmed, yesterday (May 3), that it had received a claim for the Hertsmere prize, on deadline day.

Senior winners’ advisor Andy Carter said: “What amazing news for this lucky ticket-holder who has claimed their prize with just hours to spare before it was due to expire.
“We will now focus on supporting the ticket-holder through the process.”
Players have 180 days from the day of the draw, in this case November 4, if they have a winning ticket.
The claim will now go through the validation process before the prize is paid.
