Below are five plans proposed for in and around Watford, including homes and a 5G tower, that are yet to be decided.

Planning applications are often contentious, and people need the chance to share their views, but they need to know about them first.

Here are some that might have gone under the radar.

High Road 5G tower

Network provider Three said there is “an acute need” for this monopole proposed on April 6, on the corner of High Road and Hare Crescent, Watford, but some residents have labelled it a “monstrosity”.

On April 24 the Watford Observer reported that there were 27 objections to the plan and as of April 29 there are 52 alongside a petition apparently signed more than 50 times.

A plan submitted on April 18 proposes to construct a two-storey building containing five flats on land near Lingmoor Drive and Loweswater Close, in Garston, Watford.

The land was previously used to store travelling showmen’s equipment and caravans, dating back to 1975.

If approved, there would be three one-bedroom flats and two two-bedrooms. Parking spaces are also included in the plan.

Former Jimmy’s World

Under this plan, submitted on March 13, the vacant Jimmy’s World Kitchen on the first floor above Nando’s in Watford High Street would be converted to eight apartments of 50 square metres (around three and a half parking spaces) or larger.

Former Cat & Fiddle

This plan, submitted to Hertsmere Borough Council on March 20, is awaiting decision after new homes were proposed near The Cat & Fiddle, in Radlett.

The pub closed in May 2019 and has been vacant ever since.

It would be repurposed as a home and the new-build homes on land behind it would include seven three-bedroom properties of various sizesover three detached buildings, in Cobden Hill.

Rickmansworth vicarage

The Old Vicarage, in Church Street, Rickmansworth, is a grade II listed building from the 15th century now used as offices while the modern vicarage lies in what used to be its gardens, in Bury Lane.

Under this plan, added to the Three Rivers District Council planning portal on February 27, the modern vicarage would be replaced with a part two-storey and part three-storey building, divided into nine two-bedroom flats, with parking.
