A local school has been told it “should be very proud” after getting a Tes Schools Awards nod.
Rickmansworth School, in Scots Hill, Croxley Green, has been included in the shortlist for the second year in a row, this time for the Pupil Mental Health Initiative of the Year award.
Winners at the Tes Schools Awards 2023, the 15th year of the awards, will be announced on June 23 at London’s Grosvenor Park Hotel.

Headteacher Matt Fletcher said: “We have worked really hard, in partnership with our local NHS mental health support team, to ensure that provision for students that need support with their mental health is as good as it possibly can be here at Rickmansworth School.
“Through our everyday interactions at school, we promote mental resilience for all our students and we genuinely appreciate the formal recognition that this Tes Award shortlisting has provided.”
The education publication says its awards recognise the very best teachers and schools from UK state and independents “to celebrate excellence across the whole education sector in one inclusive national event”.
Judges include school leaders, experts and education researchers.
Tes editor and chief judge Jon Severs said: “With these awards we honour the education community, whom we have served for over 112 years.
“This year has seen some incredibly high quality entries. So every teacher and school who has been named in this shortlist should be very proud – it’s a fantastic achievement.
“We are looking forward to showcasing, as we do every year, just how vital our education professionals are to every facet of this country.
“Teachers, leaders, and support staff all play such an important role in schools: this is our chance to say thank you for all that they do.”
The secondary school and sixth form, with around 1,400 boys and girls on roll, will be competing with seven fellow nominees for the award.
According to Tes: “The objectivity, professionalism, and high standards of the Tes Schools Awards judges and the judging process has helped establish them as a well-respected achievement for any school chosen as a finalist or winner.”
