Work to make an apartment building safe has been delayed after the metal set to be used was stolen.
Hertfordshire Constabulary confirmed three pallets of aluminium decking were taken from a fenced-off area outside Longman House on The Embankment, Nash Mills.
First Port, which manages the homes has confirmed that the theft, between 1am and 5am on April 13, has delayed work by two to three weeks.

It added that the developer is “doing everything possible to limit delays” on the remediation works to balconies which were being done under the building safety repairs pledge.
Police are still investigating and asked anyone with information to contact 101 quoting crime reference number 41/29701/23.
The building safety repairs pledge was introduced this year to force developers to fix critical fire safety works in buildings over 11 metres.
Last year, it was revealed that Hertfordshire has the joint highest rate of metal thefts outside of London.
Hertfordshire Constabulary said this may be due to the county’s proximity to London and the cross-border nature of these kinds of offences.
They added that there has been a fall in these types of crimes recently and the force is prioritising resources to tackle it while also working with scrap dealers.
