Police closed a North Watford road after a pedestrian was reportedly hit by a car.

Hertfordshire Constabulary and the East of England Ambulance service were called with reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car in North Western Avenue, at around 2.30pm today (April 4).

An ambulance was sent to the scene and transported the patient, an adult man, to Watford General Hospital for treatment.

Road closures were put in place following the crash, which occurred near the Meriden Community Centre.

Herts Highways reported “long delays” in the road and around The Dome roundabout.

Watford Police said: "We are currently at the scene of a collision in North Western Avenue, Watford, involving a car and a pedestrian.

"Road closures are in place and there is disruption to traffic. We advise motorists to avoid the area and seek an alternative route."
