A Watford woman has appeared in court charged with conspiring to defraud the elderly and vulnerable.
Malina Ioana Giurgiu is set to appear in Southwark Crown Court after her case was sent for trial by Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 27.
The 23-year-old is accused of conspiring with more than 10 others to defraud elderly and vulnerable members of the public by deceiving them into parting with their debit or credit cards and revealing their pin numbers.

This was allegedly done “with a view to those cards being used to withdraw cash or make payments”.

Giurgiu, of Caldwell Road, South Oxhey, is also accused of conspiring with others to convert criminal property, by using stolen bank cards to make cash withdrawals from ATMs and buy goods from high-end retailers such as Harrods and Selfridges.
Both charges allegedly took place between October 29, 2019, and March 31, 2020.
Her next appearance, in crown court, is set for April 24.
