PC Jamie Tearle, who is investigating, said: “This was a strange incident and we’re conducting enquiries in order to establish exactly what happened.
“Whilst the value of the items stolen is not huge, we understand the devastating impact that a burglary of any kind can have on victims.
“The circumstances regarding the theft are concerning and the victim has understandably been left extremely shaken by the fact that someone has entered her home.”
The suspect was described as a white man in his 30s, with light coloured hair, and he was said to be wearing orange high-visibility clothing.
Anyone who recalls seeing someone of that description, or witnessed suspicious activity on their door between 12pm and 1pm that day, has been urged to contact police.
Information can be reported via 101 quoting 41/19203/23.
