A former High Street restaurant could become eight flats after a plan was submitted.
The vacant Jimmy’s World Kitchen on the first floor, above Nando’s, would be converted to eight apartments of 50 square metres (around three and a half parking spaces) or larger.
The proposal, submitted to Watford Borough Council today (March 13), details how the restaurant closed unexpectedly in August 2016 and has remained vacant ever since as marketing failed to attract a new business to the first floor unit.

The flats would be “car free” meaning no parking spaces would be provided.
Six of the flats would be one-bedroom and two would be two-bedroom.

Since there are less than 10 flats proposed none would have to be classed as affordable.
The only change to the ground floor would involve removing the existing restaurant access, although any ground floor changes are due to be included in a separate planning application.
The plan is currently “pending consideration”.
