A man will go on trial at crown court after he denied strangling and beating a woman in Bushey.
Roshan Ranawaka, 46, opted for a trial at St Albans Crown Court after a hearing in the city’s magistrates’ court on March 3.
The man, of no fixed address, is alleged to have intentionally strangled the victim and also assaulted her, by beating, on August 13 of last year.

The 46-year-old was granted bail with conditions ahead of a court appearance on April 3.

He was found guilty of wilfully obstructing police officers at Bushey Station on March 19, 2022, and must pay £715 and carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.
The 32-year-old was also convicted of two other charges, but no separate penalty was given.
He had been threatening or abusive on the same day and location, before leaving a black Vauxhall in a manner that obstructed the railway operating at the same station on May 31, 2022.
