The public has been asked for help to track down the real owner of a seized van used to dump a mound of rubbish.
Watford Borough Council seized the white transit box van in Croxley View, in west Watford, on March 9 after CCTV footage showed it had been used to fly-tip behind a bin shed in nearby Epsom Road on December 1.
Although the vehicle (reg: RF56 KZS) was towed away and placed in a secure compound, it had been registered with the DVLA under incorrect details which the council believes may be a dead person’s identity.

Senior environmental crime officer Phil White said: “The council were fortunate to receive this footage from one of our partners and would like anyone that recognises this vehicle to get in touch with us.

“The council is committed to tackling fly tipping and will continue to take strong action against offenders.”
The true identity of the owner is still being investigated and anyone with information is asked to contact the council on 01923 226400, using reference number 23/00052/WFTIP.
Councillor Tim Williams said: “Fly-tipping is an offence and we will take immediate action against people who think they can get away with it.
"These cases have resulted in fines and even imprisonment."
