Children at a Watford school are able to enjoy some of the best outdoor learning opportunities out there — as recognised by a national award.
Cherry Tree Primary School in North Watford received the prize for its commitment to taking learning outside the classroom.
A Learning Outside the Classroom gold mark, the highest recognition of its kind, is given to a school which has shown it uses the outdoors to boost kids understanding on a day-to-day basis.
Headteacher Cheska Tyler said: “Being awarded the gold mark is a tremendous achievement for our whole school community.
"We’re thrilled to get national recognition for our efforts, and we look forward to continuing to develop what we do."

Chief Executive Dr Anne Hunt said: “Achieving a gold mark demonstrates that Cherry Tree Primary School is a leader in providing learning experiences outside the classroom and that these sessions are a genuine part of the everyday life of the school.
“I congratulate them on achieving this award.”
The school was recently given £4,500 to set up a biodiversity garden by Watford Borough Council’s Neighbourhood Grant.
