There is no end in sight for footpath repair works outside shops that are happening as part of a regeneration project.

A section outside businesses in York Way, Meriden, has been blocked off for around two weeks, according to the co-owner of Meriden Fish Bar, Donald Langford.

When the Watford Observer asked Watford Community Housing (WCH) how long the works would last, it said it does not have an end date yet.

WCH added it is being done in phases to minimise disruption to the public, and that it involves "straightforward alterations or improvements" to the footpath as part of the wider Meriden regeneration project.

"Illegal" parking along the same stretch had previously caused controversy among locals.

Helen Berthiaume, of nearby Phillipers, said it was making it difficult for people who use wheelchairs, Zimmer frames, or parents with pushchairs, while driving instructor Steve Cooper also hit out at the "dangerous" parking situation.

However, the current works are not believed to be in response to those concerns.
