Work is well underway at a service station that closed for major refurbishment.
The Shell garage at The Dome roundabout in Watford closed on December 10.
And work is expected to last for up to two years.
Pictures show that all the buildings on the site have been taken down with diggers present moving soil around.
Improvements to the garage will include replacement of fuel tanks, a new shop, forecourt, canopy, and electric vehicle charging point.
The shop was once home to Waitrose and it is unclear if it will return when the site reopens.

In November the Watford Observer reported that the store’s closure was due to “challenging” trading conditions.
However, Waitrose later confirmed the closure is due to the wider development of the Shell garage.
The spokesperson added: “We will continue to remain in contact with Shell to understand more about their plans for the site once works are nearing completion.
“We still have a number of years left on our lease.”
