“In the interest of public safety” a mound has been built to stop drivers who were crossing grass and footpaths.
A local spotted the dirt across turf in Meriden Way, Watford, near the Co-op.
It was installed within the past two weeks, according to Watford Community Housing (WCH), and is apparently in response to drivers endangering pedestrians.
WCH explained that the mound will be there permanently “in the interest of public safety”.
The grass lies between Meriden Way and the Co-op’s gated car park.
“Some members of the public were trying to access the car park by driving across the grass and the footpaths,” the spokesperson said.

They added that grass and wildflowers will be grown on the surface of it “so it will not always look as it does currently”.
There have recently been traffic woes in York Way, which drivers would need to go down to access the Co-op car park.
While works at the nearby Market Square car park site leave it unavailable motorists regularly park on double yellow lines outside shops in York Way, according to the developer in charge of the £36 million Meriden Regeneration Project.
This causes a “risk of crashing” and congestion.
A separate temporary car park in The Gossamers is set to be introduced to alleviate issues in the road.
