Queens' School 3G football pitch gets planning go-ahead

Yesterday (February 14) Queens' School in Aldenham Road, Bushey, was granted permission to install the pitch by Hertsmere Borough Council.

The plan for a synthetic pitch also includes a dugout, perimeter fencing, floodlights and paths.

According to the design and access statement: “An artificial grass pitch will provide a good quality football facility that removes weather as a factor and ensures sports fixtures, curriculum activities, and general training are not cancelled due to adverse weather or ground conditions.”

As part of the FA/Football Foundation funding requirements, the pitch will be made available for community use outside of school time.

  The site is already used as a playing field by the school but is currently open grass laid out as two pitches, one of which will be retained.

Once the new pitch is complete it will be large enough (100 metres by 64 metres) to comply with regulations for 11-a-side matches.

It will be built on key green belt land but, after assessing the development against its criteria, the council raised no objection over this as the pitch "would not adversely impact the green belt".
