Watford Borough Council has provided an update on when scaffolding outside the Colosseum could come down.
Millions of pounds have been invested to ensure the building remains an "iconic venue for future generations".
The Grade II listed venue, which has been the recording home for the soundtracks of The Lord of the Rings, The Sound of Music, and Star Wars, is currently scheduled to reopen in the spring or summer of 2024.
In May last year, scaffolding was put up around the Watford Colosseum, and the neighbouring Watford Town Hall, for energy efficiency improvements as part of the town’s commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030.
In an update the council said contractors have worked on hundreds of windows already, fitting around 1000 steel units. It described the work as “a fantastic example of retrofit and carbon reduction”.

Funding for the works, for both the town hall and Colosseum, comes from a £3.2million grant from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Works include installing PV panels for renewable energy, thermally efficient window refurbishments to reduce heat loss, insulation, and heating and lighting efficiency improvements.
In the long-term the council says this will save money and make the building more sustainable.
