The teachers’ strike tomorrow is expected to impact “most schools” in Hertfordshire but few will close completely.
The walkout is set to affect more than 23,000 schools nationwide after last-minute talks to avert the action failed to stop industrial action.
A spokesperson for Herts County Council said: “We don’t have an accurate picture of which schools will be affected, as teachers don’t have to inform their school in advance that they will be striking, and many schools are academies and don’t have to inform us.
“We expect most schools to be affected, but that relatively few will be completely closed.”

They added the most accurate source of information will be schools’ websites.
“We hope that the dispute between the NEU and the government can be resolved as soon as possible to avoid disrupting young people’s education,” the spokesperson said.
The National Education Union (NEU) is planning seven strike days over February and March over pay, working conditions and staff shortages.
The teachers’ action on February 1 (tomorrow) will be part of the UK’s biggest day of strikes in decades – as train drivers, civil servants, university lecturers, bus drivers and security guards from seven trade unions also go on strike.
