Three vehicles were involved in a crash this evening on the M1 causing long delays.
Police have confirmed they were called to the crash, which happened around 5.40pm, northbound between junctions 8 and 9.
The incident involved a lorry, a car, and a truck, police have said.
And National Highways have confirmed a large spillage is being cleaned from the road surface.

One ambulance went to the scene and one patient has been transported to Luton and Dunstable Hospital, the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust has confirmed.
National Highways said delays could last up to 90 minutes and normal traffic conditions were unlikely to resume until 9pm.

People have reported on Twitter their relatives have been stuck in the queue for more than an hour and have seen “lots of emergency and recovery vehicles going past”.
According to Google Maps traffic is heading back to junction 6 on the M1 and made its way onto the M25 at junction 21.
At the time of publishing, National Highways revealed that two of the four lanes had been reopened and recovery and clear-up are under way.
