A window was smashed when a home was broken into with the owner still inside.
Police confirmed they were called at around 7.30pm yesterday (January 2) to reports of a residential burglary in Briar Road, Watford.
Burglars broke in via the back door by smashing the window with an unknown object.

They were then disturbed by the homeowner and fled. No items are believed to have been stolen.

It comes only weeks after a separate break-in at a home in The Harebreaks, North Watford, which saw three burglars get in through the front door.
They also ran away when confronted by a resident.
Up to November 2022, there had been 294 burglaries in Watford with eight people charged, according to police figures.
