A Watford woman has been taken to court after parking in a disabled bay using her mum’s blue badge.
Georgia Kouka, of Arundel Drive, was given a six-month conditional discharge after being sentenced at St Albans Magistrates’ Court yesterday (December 21).
The 61-year-old was also ordered to pay a contribution towards council costs.

Hertsmere councillor Jean Heywood, who is responsible for Transport, said: “Blue badges are allocated to support those with disabilities and everyone has a responsibility to make sure they are used appropriately.
"This case shows that we will forward any alleged cases of misuse or fraud through to the Shared Anti-Fraud Service to investigate and look to prosecute where there is evidence to do so.”
The court heard that on June 1 this year, Kouka parked her vehicle in a disabled parking bay in Shenley Road, Borehamwood, while displaying her mother’s blue badge.
A council officer asked to inspect the badge as part of a routine check and Kouka confirmed it belonged to her mother who was not present. The badge was then seized.
