A rescue centre has appealed for heaters to keep animals warm after the rescue centre’s pipes froze.
After the overground pipes froze at their kennels, in Tylers Way, Watford's National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) has been unable to do any washing and the animals have been feeling the cold.
Since appealing for emergency bedding, volunteers have said they were blown away by the public’s generosity.

NAWT’s fundraising officer Josie Hartonne said: “The real problem was that all our plumbing is above ground and all pipes have frozen which means we cannot wash any laundry.
“We’re using extra bedding to make the animals nice and snuggly but as soon as this gets soiled or wet, we are unable to wash it and therefore kept running out.
“But the local community responded so generously to our Facebook appeal that we now have plenty and are running out of space to store more.”
However, despite all kennels having gas heaters and dogs being kept wrapped up where it is warmest, “they are still feeling the cold”.
NAWT volunteers have been out buying electric heaters and are appealing for more.
They are also in need of thermal bottle covers for guinea pigs and rabbits, to prevent their bottles freezing solid.
