A CCTV camera will be installed along a footpath and cycle route that suffers from anti-social behaviour and crime.
The camera for Victoria Passage in Watford aims to deter drinkers and drug dealers from targeting people using the street.
The Watford Community Safety Partnership, which brings together a number of organisations including councils and police, has identified the road in west Watford as an area that needs addressing.

It is used regularly by cyclists, pedestrians, and schoolchildren at Chater Junior School travelling between Durban Road East and Addiscombe Road.
Outlining the proposal, the partnership said: “This is a well-used and popular route to access west Watford. Many residents use Victoria Passage to access the town centre and the local football ground.
“Installing CCTV in this area will benefit the whole community especially the parents and children that attend the neighbouring school.
“Local children and lone women will be able to use the walkway without fear of drug dealers and street drinkers approaching them.”
A total of £26,000 is to be spent investing in CCTV, lighting, and community artwork, with £5,000 awarded at a meeting on Monday night by Watford Borough Council from its £155,000 neighbourhood grant funding scheme.
This is cash that has come from developers to support infrastructure and the partnership had put in a bid for £5,000.
The council is also set to provide a further £6,000 along with £15,000 government funding.
It is envisaged the project will be completed by February.
