Midwives in Watford were among those marching in demonstration against a “crisis in maternity services”.
Thousands of people joined March for Midwives protests in 30 towns and cities across the UK, including in Watford High Street from 2pm yesterday (November 20).
Signs included calls to “save the midwife” and “march with midwives” with others saying “change is overdue” and “failure to progress on these issues”.

The Royal College of Midwives (RCM) has said midwives have been “pushed to the brink” by financial pressures.
It added that a recent 4% pay award was “the last straw for many”.
This year's March for Midwives follows another wave of protests on November 21 2021, including in Watford, when a RCM survey showed 60 per cent of staff were already thinking of leaving their profession.
