Armed officers descended on a busy roundabout after a man reportedly had a gun.
A police helicopter and dog unit were also called after the man allegedly broke someone's driver’s side window in Watford Road, Hunton Bridge, next to the Shell garage.
It happened at around 1.20pm on Saturday afternoon (November 12) before he allegedly fled in a silver Mercedes.
Herts Police stopped the car at The Dome roundabout and arrested three men on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. One was also arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
The vehicle was recovered as part of the investigation.
However, a Herts Police spokesperson today (November 14) confirmed no gun was recovered and the men have since been released on bail.
They said: “Police were called at just after 1.20pm on Saturday (12 November) to reports of a man with a firearm seen damaging a vehicle on Watford Road and then flee the scene in a silver Mercedes.
