People are invited to help with ongoing improvements to a Watford park including increasing its biodiversity.

Watford Borough Council is working to improve and extend the footpath around Meriden Park, plant more trees and wildflower meadows, install more benches, and add landscape mounds to be planted with grass.

There will be an opportunity for the community to assist with bulb and tree planting, with much of the planting expected in Spring 2023. Work on the path is already underway.

“It will also provide plenty of opportunities to get active, have fun and make the most of the great parks we have here in Watford.”

Development will also include the installation of a height restriction barrier at the entrance to the Meriden Community Centre and a knee-high railing to the boundary of Meriden Way and Garsmouth Way.

The council said these are aimed to act as a deterrent of illegal encampment on the site “whilst protecting the character of the park and the enjoyment for local residents”.

Dropped curbs will also be installed along Garsmouth Way.
