Stephen Danzig, who was in the area and took a photo of the tree, said a woman had recently driven down and was coming back out when her journey was halted.
The incident would have been particularly frustrating because School Lane is a no-through road and only has one public route in and out.
Police were called and together with community-spirited locals, they managed to get the tree away from the road in around 30 minutes.
