A women’s football club have been accused of being “disrespectful” and “lacking class” about their views towards another team’s facilities.
Players and staff at Dorking Wanderers FC Ladies appeared to be less than impressed when they turned up for a game at the Green Lane football ground in Bovingdon.
In a BBC documentary called Squad Goals, which follows Dorking Ladies, a club representative described a dugout as “ridiculous” and a “joke”. There was also criticism aimed towards the ground’s changing room.

The tweet generated a number of critical responses including from Bovingdon FC.
The club, which has a deal that allows Watford Ladies to play at their ground, replied: “Very disappointed with the disrespectful comments made about our fabulous little club, supporting the local community giving footballing opportunities to so many. You should be more humble.”
Toby Woodward wrote: “Have some more respect to this amazing club @BovingdonFC has over 100 years of history run by volunteers from children’s football all the way up to having 3 adult teams.
“The facilities they have and in particular the pitch is fantastic. Have some more grace and decorum next time!”
Sarratt FC first team manager Stuart Beddall tweeted: “Terrible, this club does and has done loads for the community over countless years, you should be ashamed and apologise to @BovingdonFC.”
Nice little mention from @DWFCLadies or should I say disrespect to the endless efforts our volunteers put in at the ground week after week to get our games on. No budget no wages all hard graft just to be put down. Pure class that @BovingdonFC

Another said it was a “disgusting attitude towards a historic grassroots club” while Dorking were also accused of seeking “cheap laughs for cheap clicks” and “lacking class”.
Read the room. Lack of class here on a number of levels. @BovingdonFC who we welcome on Saturday to our place are a different class. Cheap laughs for cheap clicks

Responding from its official Twitter account to one tweet which claimed the club should be more “humble”, Dorking Ladies’ said: “Most of the coaching team and players, have played at clubs that have had very little facilities and funding, this just shows more money should be put into grassroots football.
“We are very grateful for the facilities we have access to at Dorking Wanderers.”
Dorking Ladies chairman and American TV personality Calum Best “apologised on management’s behalf” and said the club provided “great hospitality” when also responding to a critical tweet.
I’m not in this video mate but apologies on managements behalf , the club was great hospitality 🤝
