Plans for a café in a park that the community has been “requesting for years” have been submitted.
The café is proposed to be installed by Aldenham Parish Council at Phillimore Recreation Ground in Radlett.
Situated near the park’s car park, the facility would include both indoor and outdoor seating areas and toilets.
The council hopes a café will attract bigger crowds to the park.

Chairman Cllr Helen Jones said: “We have received numerous requests throughout the years for a café, as residents would like a covered seating area where they can enjoy refreshments within the peaceful setting of the recreation grounds.
“This is part of our improvement project that also aims to upgrade the play area, the car park, the entrances and the signage to make the entire site more accessible and welcoming all year long.”

Cllr Jones added that if planning permission is secured, the next step will include drawing up tenders for an operator for the café.
The application can be viewed in Hertsmere Borough Council’s planning portal via reference 22/1702/FUL.
