Data shows which Watford schools have the best and worst absence rates.
Absence data is not available for the 2020/2021 school year, but the ONS has made data for 2018/2019 available online.
This includes overall rates of absence and the percentage of persistently absent students.

Absence rate is the overall percentage of possible mornings or afternoons missed.
Persistent absence is the “percentage of pupils missing 10 per cent or more of the mornings or afternoons they could attend”.
The Watford UTC, rated ‘good’ at its last inspection, had a rate of absence of 12.2 per cent and a third of students were persistently absent.
This was the highest percentage in both categories.
Breakspeare School, a special school rated ‘outstanding’ at its last inspection had the second highest.
All its students have severe or profound learning difficulties.
It had an absence rate of 10.8 per cent and persistent absences at 29 per cent.
Nascot Wood Junior School, rated ‘outstanding’, had the lowest rate of absences with just 2.7 per cent and only 2.1 per cent of students were persistently absent.
