The water sector regulator has forced Affinity Water to pay out a penalty to customers after failing to cut down on pollution and leaks.
Affinity Water is among 11 companies which will have to take almost £150 million off customers’ bills in the next financial year because of missed targets on areas such as leaks, pollution, and internal sewer flooding.
While the largest penalty is being handed to Thames Water, which will be forced to pay out £51 million, Affinity is set to pay only £800,000 for missing its targets more narrowly.

Customers can expect to see their tariffs adjusted to reflect the penalty from April 1, 2023.
The company has added that it plans to inform customers how much the new charges will be in early 2023.
Last month, Ofwat published the leader board for customer satisfaction which found Affinity Water to be 14th of 17 companies for customer satisfaction.
The water companies can appeal the regulator’s draft decision.
