More detailed proposals for a film hub to be created on a country estate have been unveiled.
The owners of the luxury Grove Hotel have outlined how they wish to transform part of their Langleybury Estate, capitalising on the “huge growth” in the TV and film industry.
With more than 70 stages within a 30-minute drive, such as nearby Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden, owner Ralph Trustees Ltd believes its green belt site is the “best possible location” to provide a new home for those in the filming industry.

A consultation website set up for Langleybury Film Hub reveals more about the plans including creating soundstages and a backlot.
But there is a large focus on the creation of a campus for units available for long-term hire. Potential tenants could include companies involved in prop storage, special effects, stunts, lighting, camera equipment, costume, hair and make-up, rigging, editing and more.
The plans also seek to create a film and television training facility and office space, while Grade II listed Langleybury Mansion, which has starred in more than 100 productions, remains at the heart of the hub plans.
The mansion could also be restored along with other listed buildings if the project goes ahead and gets planning permission.
Other features of the scheme include bringing the Walled Garden back into use with the creation of a café, while ecological improvements are proposed across the estate.
The children’s farm would be relocated to a more “appropriate” location within the estate, also allowing the facilities to be upgraded.
Also mentioned in the proposals is a new car park for farm visitors, as well as for St Paul’s Church of England Primary and Nursery School and Langleybury Cricket Club, which both suffer from parking problems.

Some unlisted buildings on the site would be demolished including those formerly used for Langleybury School.
Those behind the film hub are seeking feedback on their proposals before final plans are submitted to Three Rivers District Council – expected to be late October.
