A man is fighting for his life after being critically injured during a town centre fight with five men.
The victim, who is in his 30s, was assaulted at 12.50am today (September 17) in The Parade before being rushed to hospital with a serious head injury.
Police believe the attackers were known to the victim, and the victim, along with three friends, had been involved in an earlier incident with the attackers around 12.25am in Market Street.

The attackers are described as black men wearing dark clothing.
One was reportedly wearing a black puffer jacket with the letters ‘W M’ in white on the back.

Detective Constable Ian Blackledge said: “The exact circumstances of what happened during the early hours of this morning are being thoroughly investigated."
