Details of this year's Rickmansworth Canal Festival have been released by event organisers.

More than 20,000 visitors are expected to enjoy a mix of live music, competition and educational events during the popular annual event that is to be held over the weekend of May 17 and 18.

Rickmansworth Waterways Trust said a mix of rock, Latin, jazz and folk music will be provided on two stages along with a host of traditional events, including the boater's tug of war and medieval living history displays.

After a sensational visit by the Red Arrows last year, visitors will also be treated to a fly past on Sunday afternoon by the Douglas Dakota parachute aircraft from the RAF's Battle of Britain display team.

The Douglas Dakota was a military transport used extensively by the Allies during World War Two and remained in front line operations through the 1950s, with a few remaining in operation to this day.

Festival chairman David Montague said he hoped the festival would be better than ever.

He said: "Last year, we were blessed with fantastic weather. Everybody who came said it was the best ever.

"We have also got the Dakota fly past to look forward and lots of fantastic activities."
