A cyclist was knocked from his bike when an automated bollard intended to stop motor vehicles rose up under his front wheel.
The man was “casually” riding just before the junction of Market Streetand High Street, Watford, on Wednesday afternoon (September 14) when one of the bollards partially came up.

He said: “He was just casually cycling on a Beryl bike, while the bollards were down.
"Then they came up as soon as he rode over them with the front wheel.
“The bike suddenly rose up on the front wheel, he became unseated, and the bike fell down.
"He picked it up and limped away.”
Watford Borough Council explained that while this had been a known issue in the early days of the bollards, they were not aware of recent incidents as the timings have been adjusted and visual warnings were added to avoid the problem.
