A woman has warned “well-meaning” walkers after someone left a “fatal” amount of food for her horses.
Sue Williams, 64, went down to her field, off Chipperfield Road, to find someone had tipped a carrier bag full of apples out for her horses.
She explained that feeding the animals so many apples can cause Colic, one of the most common causes of death in horses, which leads them to suffer severe abdominal pain.

Mrs Williams said: “The horses can only have low energy foods.
“They cannot vomit or be sick so, once they have eaten, it has to go through their digestive system, this means they can die from Colic, which can be painful and fatal.”
Mrs Williams was able to pick up the apples and planned to put up a sign explaining people should not feed the horses.
Mrs Williams, who looks after the horses with her husband, children, and grandchildren, added: “Before we even got a sign up, they came again, we have put the signs up now though and hopefully it will stop.
“I don’t want to lecture people.
“I know people are well meaning and don’t do it to be mean, they do it to be kind.”
