Nearly £200,000 is set to be spent improving a “muddy and uneven” towpath.
The investment earmarked for the path along the Grand Union Canal in Kings Langley will provide a “sustainable excellent traffic-free route” for pedestrians and cyclists.
Three Rivers District Council says it wants the improvements to be carried out while similar refurbishment is taking place along a different section of the same path in neighbouring Dacorum. It will be working with Hertfordshire County Council and the Canal & Rivers Trust.

By May 2023, the council hopes there will be six miles of “high quality” towpath stretching from Croxley Green to Apsley, with over five miles of improvements completed to date.
The work on the stretch from Kings Langley Lakes to Red Lion Lane is forecast to cost £187,191.
The council wants cover the majority of the costs - £172,282 – from its community infrastructure levy budget, which is money provided by developers for infrastructure.
