Fire fighters were working extremely hard yesterday to tackle the blaze on farmland near Tolpits Lane.
But that wasn’t the only incident they were called out for.

Today, the Red Watch attended a fire in Oxhey Woods.

Garston Fire Station extinguished a fire on railway embankment near Carpenders Park.

And another unit used buckets of water to extinguish a fire.

Not all of the work focusses on putting fires out.
Fire fighters are often called to deal with floods or to help other emergency services.
At 04:13 @HertsFRSControl mobilised @garstonfire to Lockhart Road, Watford where they assisted their @EastEnglandAmb colleagues with effecting entry to a time critical casualty 🚒

At 06:49 @HertsFRSControl mobilised @garstonfire to a flood on Newlands Avenue, Radlett; crews carried out scene safety and offered advice to the occupant 🚒

Here, the Garston Fire Station unit was called to help extricate people from a lift.
At 23:01 @HertsFRSControl mobilised @garstonfire to School Mead, Abbots Langley where they used one short extension ladder and lift keys to extricate three persons from a lift on the first floor 🚒

And on some occasions, they were called to false alarms, but the services said it was with good intent.

The fire services have been dealing with a higher number of call outs since dry weather conditions have led to fires becoming out of control.
With this increase in workload and helping other emergency services, their hard work has not gone unnoticed.
To help prevent fires, the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue service has asked people to avoid using disposable barbecues, dispose of you litter properly and to no burn garden waste.
