Dog walkers have cancelled walks and said it’s “absolutely mad” to take animals on pavements during the heatwave.
Precious Pups Dog Walking Bushey announced on Facebook that “due to extreme temperatures, all walks are cancelled on Thursday and Friday” this week.
Dog walkers advise that if you need to go out, it is better to take shorter walks, bring plenty of water, avoid the hottest times of day, and stick to parks, fields, or the shade.

Kerri, from Precious Pups Dog Walking Bushey said: “If it’s not necessary, don’t go out.
“It’s terrible, I wouldn’t walk my dog in this heat so I wouldn’t walk anyone else’s.”
Commercial dogwalker Craig Greenbrook said: “A short walk in a field you can get away with, but if you are doing the streets of Watford its absolutely mad.
“People need to use common sense.
“Walking your dog just on the pavement or on metal is crazy, they will burn their paws.
“With some people the message just doesn’t seem to get through.”
A Met Office amber warning for extreme heat comes into force from today (August 11) until Sunday, with temperatures climbing as high as 32C.
