Hi, I’m Juno and I came to the National Animal Welfare Trust a couple of months ago when my owners had a change in circumstances. I’m a big retriever/poodle cross looking for a child-free home with a large, enclosed garden where I’m the only pet.
My new owner needs to be experienced at managing and training dogs with resource-guarding issues as I tend to protect food, toys and special spaces, like my crate. This can be overcome by using pet gates at home to allow me access to safe areas, muzzling me for vet visits and being kept on the lead for walkies.
In the past, I’ve displayed ‘barrier frustration behaviours’, barking at people or dogs on the other side of a fence. I’m not used to being left alone so I may be a bit loud or destructive when left. Because of my issues I need an understanding owner who’s got the time to support and train me using reward-based training methods.
On the plus side, I’m a friendly lad who’s doing very well with the staff here at the NAWT. I love attention and, once I get to know you, will show lots of affection.
I’ve been medically checked by a vet; vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and neutered; and come with four free weeks of Petplan insurance.
If you could give me a loving home, email reception@nawt.org.uk or call 0208 950 0177 (option 2) to arrange a visit.
