The 18-year-old, who attended Divine Saviour Catholic Primary School in the village, has been described as an “incredibly talented person” by the school's head teacher Helen Wilson.
Mrs Wilson said: “She is indeed an inspiration to all of us and the whole school community have been watching her grow and celebrating her gymnastics success over many years!
“Our staff have been hugely excited watching the Commonwealth Games and seeing her perform so spectacularly well! We are all so incredibly proud of her.
“Her success has been hard earned indeed - and she should be so proud of all she has achieved so far.”
She added: “Throughout her time at Divine Saviour she was an outstanding ambassador for our school- she was extremely hardworking and conscientious - not just in regards to her gymnastics but also her academic work.”
